In the United Kingdom at least, however, she is known to take an active behind-the-scenes interest in the affairs of state, meeting regularly to establish a working relationship with her government ministers. She never lives in any other place apart from England. So how can all these countrys still accept here? She doesnt get involved with the countrys, So why even bother holding a title? If i had this title i will stay in all my countries evenly. Not permently reside in the UK. You understand what im saying countries *correction* - sorry

How come that when someone is mixed between Whites Asians,Arabs,Indians this one rule works different?? for example: I come from the Dominican Republic by my mother side my grandma was 100% african descendant from Antigua and my grandpa was 100% white spanish,French. Then by my Father side my grandma was Arab descendant ( morroco ) and my grand father was mulatto. And some times people in the US think of me as Mulatto,Mixed,Black,Indian,Arab, and sometimes they simple ask me where i come from and what’s my background and then they say ohh you’re Black. And to be Honest i don’t have a problem if i’m black,Asian,White etc i’m very proud of what i am Now my question is does the one Drop Rule works the same way with multiracial? do you think that this rule is only used to confuse people? Thanks & Pls smart answers.

I am planning on meeting him in the Autumn Fall We talk on the phone he has talked to my mom and some of my family members about all. My dad really likes him and my mom is coming with me to meet him, and my niece is too. She is 16. Before people tell me it’s not worth it. I sincerely have feelings for him ad we are going to start off as friends. We aren’t the time of teenagers who jump into sexual activity and if we did we are smart enough to use protection. I am going to meet his parents and I would like to know how to act. I am relatively shy we both are. We have a lot in common. I have talked to him on the phone we talk to relatives i talk to him online we send pictures of ourself. I don’t know how his family will react to the fact I am mixed.(Irish & Antigua n). I would prefer to impress them and show them, that just because we met online and we are young doesn’t mean what we feel isn’t real. I’m sorry about the spelling errors. I didn’t proof read, it is late and I am tired. Edits** I sincerely have feelings for him AND we are going to start off as friends. We aren’t the TYPE of teenagers who jump into sexual activity and if we did we are smart enough to use protection. I didn’t quite specify my question. I need advice. Some people are going to be skeptic to the idea of teenager dating online, especially adults. Please, give me good advice. I don’t like being judged. If you prefer to criticize have at it. Life is good I’m meeting my best friend. I love him.

This year the hotel got even more expensive and my parents won’t pay it. They booked us at some nasty hotel not even right on the beach. I told them they could go and I’d be fine with staying here, but for some reason they won’t go without me! My sister started staying home alone when we went on vacation when she was 15! I’m 16 and they won’t let me! I don’t really like the beach in San Diego especially because since last summer when I was there I’ve been to Puerto Vallarta, San Juan, Tortola, Antigua, St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Thomas, and Costa del Sol in Spain. This beach is really going to seem like absolute shitttt. I prefer to just relax by the pool at the nice hotel with the good atmosphere right ON the beach. This other hotel isn’t even on the beach. I have less than an hour to decide so please put in your two cents! I don’t like San Fran. either. Been there way too many times. Kay don’t need anymore answers; already told my mom to cancel.

My vet, an American woman here in Antigua Guatemala describes it as a viral infection. Also a fawn with a much less severe case than the blues. They were born with slight out-break on the top of their heads. Now it has spread throughout the fur on their backs and legs, everywhere there is heavy hair. Vet said upgrade their kibble. That seemed to help, but not for long. It does not seem to be particularily itchy. Their shot battery was routine. Diet is consistently raw meat and Purina Puppy Chow. Lanolin seemed to make it worse. I quit cod liver oil and goat’s milk just in case. Otherwise the entire litter is very healthy and rapidly growing. The blues are the largest at around 30 pounds at 4 months. They run several miles per day. Great muscular developement. They are all happy campers, having a good ol’ time when not asleep and managing stresses like the size of carriage horses

Part of its appeal lies in its unique setting, the island of Antigua. This interdisciplinary collection of 30 primary documents and commentary will enrich the reader’s understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of the novel. Among the topics examined are slavery in the Caribbean, the various religions in the Caribbean islands, the controversy over Christopher Columbus, family life in Antigua, and emigrations from the West Indies to the United States. Sources include newspaper and magazine articles, editorials, first-person narratives and memoirs of life in the Caribbean, letters, and position papers. Most of the documents are not readily available in any other printed form. A literary analysis of Annie John examines the novel in light of its historical, social, and cultural contexts and as a coming-of-age novel. Each chapter concludes with study questions and topics for research papers and class discussion based on the documents in the chapter, and lists of further reading for examining the themes and issues raised by the novel. This casebook is valuable to students and teachers to help them understand the setting of the novel, its themes, and its young heroine.

The Lau family travels to Antigua, Guatemala to visit their cousins. Although the Laus are Chinese and Buddhist, they adore the pageantry of Easter, and Easter in Antigua is exciting, with long, elaborate processions of penitents wreathed in incense and carrying colonial Spanish statues down the cobblestone streets of the city. The best part is seeing the elaborate carpets made of colored sawdust, which the processions walk over and destroy. On the morning of the most important procession, the heroine is invited to make her very own sawdust carpet. But why, she wonders, make something so beautiful, only to have it be ruined?

Guatemalan and Chinese religious observances, dragon boat races and Easter processions, piñatas, baptisms, and Chinese tamales all weave in and out of this story, which celebrates beauty, religious celebration, and tolerance.

A brilliant look at colonialism and its effects in Antigua–by the author of Annie John

“If you go to Antigua as a tourist, this is what you will see. If you come by aeroplane, you will land at the V. C. Bird International Airport. Vere Cornwall (V. C.) Bird is the Prime Minister of Antigua. You may be the sort of tourist who would wonder why a Prime Minister would want an airport named after him–why not a school, why not a hospital, why not some great public monument. You are a tourist and you have not yet seen . . .”

So begins Jamaica Kincaid’s expansive essay, which shows us what we have not yet seen of the ten-by-twelve-mile island in the British West Indies where she grew up.

Lyrical, sardonic, and forthright by turns, in a Swiftian mode, A Small Place cannot help but amplify our vision of one small place and all that it signifies.
