Resolved Question: What are some Paragauayan desserts that are delicious and easy to make?
Im doing a project on Paraguay and need some recipes fast!

Voting Question: Where in Latin America should I go?
I’m going on a student exchange trip for a semester and I simply can’t decide which country to choose. There are my choices: Costa Rica (I’ve heard it’s a beautiful country, but I also heard it’s really Americanized) Honduras (I’ve been here once and I might be able to visit some friends if I went here on exchange, but on the other hand I’d like to go to a new country) Panama (I heard it’s also really Americanized, but don’t know much else) Paraguay (I’d like to go somewhere in South America, but…well this will sound strange, but my main problem with this country is that it’s landlocked which makes me feel claustrophobic…weird I know) Please Help!!!

Resolved Question: Why would Bush ask for 1 billion dollars to fight crime in Central America and Mexico?
…only to be rejected and ask again 6 mos later for 500 million by a fellow named Mukasey? Why would Americans want to pay for another countries crime problem? Doesn’t it seem to be alittle staged when a highly publicised shootout occurs at the border with Mexico the day before the money is begged for?…now if I was a “speculator?”Would I be wrong in assuming that money being filtered around that part of the world is for some other means-could it be…that the 100 thousand acres of land recently acquired by Bush in Paraguay is somehow connected-? …the cloud around it all is why would we invest our money there if they won’t even do the same for themselves-obviously if they won’t do it for themselves-there is not going to be any interest in doing anything for U.S.TAKE THE MONEY and run-and I believe it has everything to do with our Presidents “interests”outside this country-which is a whole secondary argument.CONFLICT of interest.

Resolved Question: Why is Bush buying land in Paraguay?
Is it because he knows the US is going to crumble and he wants a safe haven? I wonder if the 500 military troops are going to be his personal bodyguards? Do you think the people of Paraguay are right, that he may be there to steal their water, the same way he is stealing Iraqs oil? I just wonder why he would leave the US. According to him things are great here. Aren’t they? http://wonkette.com/politics/george-w.-bush/we-hate-to-bring-up-the-nazis-but-they-fled-to-south-america-too-208549.php http://www.plenglish.com/article.asp?ID=%7BEBA55617-676-4091-ABBC-20650EB6FEE1%7D&language=EN http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index955.htm http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0610/S00308.htm http://www.counterpunch.org/cp10202006.html

Voting Question: Why did Uruguay switch sides in the War of the Triple Alliance (South America)?
I’m doing a paper on it and I read the article on Wikipedia. Apparently Brazil and Argentina declared war on Uruguay and Uruguay asked for help from Paraguay. When Paraguay joined them a few months later, Uruguay switched sides, but why? It started as Uruguay against Brazil and Argentina and they joined their enemies. If it’s because they didn’t like Paraguay, why didn’t they?

Open Question: Bush calling critics of his wars “Nazi appeasers” now…??
… considering his bogus and disastrous Middle East wars are criminal wars of aggression, just as Hitler’s invasion of Poland was …and that the practices of the Bush administration have been a steady 8-year march towards totalitarian fascism in the USA (complete with a mainstream mass media Ministry of Propaganda)… Arbitrary indefinite detention with no charge or legal counsel or trial, at the president’s discretion, torture, wire taps, tasers, Haliburton building large detention camps on U.S. soil. Where is this “freedom” that you speak of? … and that Bush has bought himself nearly 100,000 acres in Paraguay, where he will be immune from war crimes prosecution (Bush knows full well that he is guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity) … aren’t the real “Nazi appeasers” all those who have swallowed and parroted Bush’s b.s. in the past eight years, and cooperated with him? Isn’t it time to arrest this sociopath, once and for all, lock him up, and throw away the key Arrest Bush http://news.yahoo.com/s/ucru/20080429/cm_ucru/arrestbush

Resolved Question: Why does ESPN have “ESPN Desportes” updates?
What is the point of some bimbo that can barely speak english giving me the update on the bolivia vs. paraguay soccer game? Umm, Americans don’t watch that crap. Does espn not get that? So Fresh, so clean - finally someone with a little common sense. They should have updates on Steeler Nation rather than soccer from Panama.

Resolved Question: World Cup 2010?
What are you predictions about who will qualify for World Cup 2010. Here are mine. Europe (13): England, Germany, Portugal, Italy, France, Spain, Holland, Switzerland, Serbia, Ukraine, Sweden, Turkey, Greece South America (4.5.. assume 5 since they play 4th of NA): Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, Paraguay North America (3.5.. assume 3): USA, Mexico, Costa Rica Asia (4.5.. assume 4 as Australia will probably make it): Iran, Japan, Korea, China Africa (6 with SA): Nigeria, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Ghana, Senegal Oceania (0.5.. assume 1): Australia

Open Question: Which South American countries are going to the World Cup in 2010?
Personally I think (in this order) - Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Colombia and Uruguay goes to play the 4th place team in the CONCACAF, probably Guatemala, Canada or Panama. What do you guys think?

At the Tomb of the Inflatable Pig: Travels Through Paraguay
At the Tomb of the Inflatable Pig: Travels Through Paraguay Haven to Nazis, smugglers’ paradise, home to some of the earth’s oddest wildlife and most baroquely awful dictatorships, Paraguay is a nation waiting for the right chronicler. In John Gimlette, at last it has one. With an adventurer’s sang-froid, a historian’s erudition, and a sense of irony so keen you could cut a finger on it, Gimlette celebrates the beauty, horror and–yes–charm of South America’s obscure and remote “island surrounded by land.”

He takes readers from genteel drawing rooms in Asuncion–where ladies still gossip about the nineteenth-century Irish adventuress who became Paraguay’s Empress to the “Green Hell” of the Chaco, a vast, inhospitable tract populated by aging Mennonites and discouraged Indians. Replete with eccentrics and scoundrels, ecologically minded cannibals and utopians from every corner of the earth, At the Tomb of the Inflatable Pig is a madly entertaining book.
